Annual Professional Development Day
May 22, 2021
May 22, 2021
Thank you to all who attended or bought a ticket to Professional Development Day (PDD). We sold 48 tickets to PDD and had attendees from our Chennai, India “Sister” Section as well as other SWE sections around the U.S. In the post event survey, attendees rated the event a 9.4/10. Above, a photo from the Keeping Up with Industry Trends panel discussion with panelists Karen Verelly, Sara Blascovich, and Melissa Martinez and moderated by Mary Zeis. If you have any feedback on PDD, please feel free to send it to swepittsburgh.programming@gmail.com.
Thank you to our sponsors Eaton, the Naval Nuclear Laboratory, and SoftWriters for making this event possible. An additional thank you to Mary Zeis, Deepika Devarajan, Mary Ann Walsh, and Dianne McMaster for volunteering their time and networks for finding speakers, and additionally to Meaghan Shea, for helping with technical support.
SWE Pittsburgh Executive Council Transition Meeting
July 20, 2020
New and former SWE Pittsburgh leaders came together virtually to meet and discuss our section goals for FY21. It wasn’t as much fun as last year’s in-person Transition Meeting. Still, it was great to “see” each other and start planning for the new fiscal year.
We know this year will look much different than years past, and we are up for the challenge!

SWE Virtual Fundraiser – Indian Cooking Class
July 18, 2020
Twelve people participated in this virtual fundraising event for SWE Pittsburgh. We had a fun time making Bhelpuri (Indian snack), Instant Dosas, and coconut/cilantro Chutney!
A big thank you to SWE member Jayashree Iyengar of Popping Mustard Seeds for leading the class and teaching us how to cook Indian food. The section raised $240 for future programs.
