Pittsburgh Earth Day Tailgate Tour

Energy Innovation Center

Saturday, April 22, 2023

The Tailgate Tour kicks off in the Hill District at the Energy Innovation Center located at 1435 Bedford Avenue across from the PPG Arena. Meet the Pirate Parrot, the Pirate Pierogis, and the Bucoo Brigade.
Get ready to “Chill & Grill” with Tailgate Tastings prepared by Chef Claudy from the E.A.T. Initiative. The DLC team will be on-site to showcase how the public can reduce their environmental impact through energy efficiency and electrification. Event-goers will get to see one of DLC’s new, all-electric Ford F-150 Lightnings; get an inside look at what life is like for lineworkers; and learn how DLC is building the future workforce to support the region’s clean energy transition. Also, on The Hill to celebrate Earth Day, you can meet Ki Ki from WAMO 107.3.

The Earth Day Tailgate Tour will take place on April 22nd from 11AM through The Pittsburgh Pirates
Game Time. Presented by Duquesne Light Company (DLC), Wesco, UPMC Health Plan and Pitt Ohio, this multi-location event will invoke a day to inspire, celebrate, educate, and entertain the entire Pittsburgh community through multiple activities for all ages. Get more details here.

SWE Pittsburgh will host an activity table during SciTech Day. The theme is “Space and Astronomy”. Participants will create a “Stomp Rocket”, or sounding rocket, with paper and fins and will see if their design reaches the target when launched (via stomping on a plastic bottle attached to a tube to make the rocket fly!). ​

Maternal Bias Discussion

Join us for a discussion on maternal bias at De Fer in Troy Hill (1800 Rialto St, Pittsburgh, PA 15212) on November 12th from 1:00-2:30pm. Maternal bias occurs when colleagues view mothers—or pregnant women—as less competent and less committed to their jobs. We will discuss how to identify & mitigate this bias in the workplace. You do not have to be a parent to join this conversation!
