SWE’s Founder’s Day Celebration

For SWE’s 75th anniversary celebration this year, we went to the site where our founders met to establish the Society all those years ago — The Cooper Union in New York City.  The recorded event includes a keynote from astronaut and TikTok star Kellie Gerardi followed by a 20-minute panel discussion featuring SWE professional and collegiate members. For a limited time, you can watch the replay on swe.org / Advance Learning Center: All Courses | SWE

SWE Pittsburgh Elections

The SWE Pittsburgh section is successful because of you, our members. We need five extraordinary members to help SWE Pittsburgh by serving in an officer role. Current officers may choose to run again. The section officers are:

  • President
  • Vice President of Programming
  • Vice President of STEM Outreach
  • Treasurer
  • Secretary

Positions descriptions can be found here. If you’re interested but are not sure where you’d be the best fit, please reach out to us at swe.pittsburgh@gmail.com – we’re happy to talk with you!

Section officers serve for a term of one year (July 2026 – June 2027). All officers and committee chairs participate in a SWE Pittsburgh monthly phone call and an annual face-to-face meeting.

We encourage all Pittsburgh members to consider submitting your nomination for an officer role or to recommend someone for an officer role. New officers will be mentored and guided by the experienced members, so anyone who is willing to commit can take on a role. We need our members to step forward to help us continue as a successful section.

Please email your nomination to swe.pittsburgh@gmail.com. Please include your name, the officer position, and a short couple of sentences on why you are interested and how you are qualified for the officer position. A member of the nominating committee will reply.

Please submit nominations by April 20th. The Nominating Committee will present the slate of recommended candidates in the May newsletter. The ballot will be sent to paid members of SWE in mid-May. Thank you!
